The Estonian Society of Neuromuscular Disorders (ELS)
is an association whose aim is to improve the lives of people with neuromuscular disorders. There are several ways to achieve this - we support our members with experience and advice, provide information about the disorders and coping strategies, organise outreach events and offer opportunities to take part in the day-to-day tasks of our society. A good sense of humour is an inseparable companion in our activities and every member of our "family" is accepted just the way they are.
Hey young or young at heart!
You'll find people your own age and with similar interests. We have plenty of enthusiasts with whom you can hatch all sorts of plans or discuss world affairs. Warning! You will be dragged out of your home!
If you are someone who prefers your own company, you can also find someone who listens, thinks along, and — most importantly — does not bother you unnecessarily.
Important message for seniors
Members of the society share their experiences and coping skills not only with other members but also with officials from different fields. When it comes to rare diseases, your experience — how you have managed in crisis situations — is extremely valuable to us. Don't keep your life experience to yourself, come and share it!
For parents and supporters
Feel free to contact the board of the society with your questions — if we don’t have an immediate solution to your problem, we will look for the means and ways to find one.
We stand for our members’ rights and for ensuring a dignified life for all people with neuromuscular disorders. Problems solved today will be gone tomorrow. Come and help us make the world a better place! Come and let's make the world a better place!
Membership fee
As of 01.01.2018, the membership fee for individual members is 5 euros and family EUR 8.

For us, there is no such thing as being too physically unfit, just not fit enough. lifestyle. To improve the life of a person with a disability, we are working with three partners. We work with three umbrella organisations. We are open to challenges from various interest groups. We design and implement projects aimed both at shaping society’s attitudes and at increasing individuals’ self-confidence and self-awareness. Through us, several progressive ideas have reached Estonia and taken root — for example, the Independent Living Movement or powerchair hockey.
